Please read terms and conditions before placing an order. By using this site, you accept and agree to the terms and conditions of the ‘Charles and Violet’ website.
‘Charles and Violet’ may at anytime, amend or modify these Terms and Conditions without notice.
ORDERING A CAKE FROM US
Prices and charges are subject to change without notice.
The primary calculation of your total cake cost is not only based on the size of your cake, the type of cake, but also the labour hours and amount of detail that will go into creating your custom made cake.
All quoted prices are valid for 7 days. A quote does not mean your cake is booked in. Your custom cake is confirmed, booked in and date is secure upon payment of a 50% deposit.
We require a 50% deposit when orders are confirmed; your event date is not secured until a deposit is received. Outstanding bills are to finalised a minimum of 24hours before the event..
*Cakes will not be delivered unless paid in full.
Please remember a majority of our bookings are arranged in advance, as all our creations are custom designed and made to order.
Short notice orders or any orders taken with less than 14 days notice will require full payment to be made before order is started. We are more than happy to accommodate last minute orders when we can, but please book your date early to make sure you don’t miss out!
Any cake decorated from a photo or sketch by another cake decorator will only be reproduced as our interpretation of the designed cake and not an exact reproduction.
DEPOSITS AND REFUNDS
Once deposit is paid, the quoted price is fixed to the original cake design ordered. Any changes to the original cake design are subject to a quote review and additional charges may apply.
If you decide to cancel your cake order after a deposit has been made, a full refund will be given if the order is cancelled within 14 days of the order acceptance date.
All cancellations and refund cases will be treated on an individual basis. If something has happened that results in the cancellation or suspension of an event, talk to us, we’re happy to help where we can, we are understanding, and sometimes life does throw a curve ball.
Delivery is available and calculated on distance traveled. You are welcome to collect the cakes to avoid the fee, but please be aware that Charles and Violet will not be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur once the product is handed over.
We strongly suggest delivery and set up for all wedding cake orders.
Most cakes will be given to you in an open top box, as most 3d and tiered cakes are taller than most cake boxes.
Our cakes are delicate so please drive carefully as the cake is your responsibly once it has been collected or delivered. Cakes are best placed on a flat surface in your car or supported by a passenger. Please DO NOT put your custom cake directly on an uneven car seat.
Please note that we cannot accept responsibility for loss or damages to
cakes/ cookies/cupcakes/toppers after delivery or collection has taken place.
HOW DO I STORE MY CAKE?
Cakes covered in fondant or that have sugar paste cake toppers should be stored in cool place and away from direct sunlight to prevent discolouration.
Refrigeration is not advisable for fondant covered cakes as the condensation makes the cake sweat and could cause decorations to wilt and melt.
Keep cakes/ cupcakes/ toppers in an air-conditioned room where possible. Please do not put your fondant covered cake in the refrigerator or get it wet.
Sugar decorations can be removed from the cake and kept stored in a cool dry place for years. Clean off any cake and keep wrapped in tissue paper in a box if you would like to reuse it.

Contact by phone can be made Tuesday to Friday between 9am and 6pm. We will aim to answer or return your call as soon as possible, as we may be creating cakes, delivering or teaching classes when you call.
Filling out our online contact form or sending through and email is the best way to contact us directly.
Cake tastings are available for wedding cakes orders only. A fee applies if your order has not yet been confirmed at the time of tasting.
CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS
Classes must be paid in full at time of booking. Bookings are not secure until Charles and Violet have received full upfront payment.
Full refunds are given if a class has to be cancelled. You can sell the class to someone else, please notify us of these changes.
Credit or transfer to the next available class is also available for those that do not require a full refund.
A student can opt for a full refund or credit if cancellation is more than 48 hours before start of the class.
Photography is only permitted if ‘Charles and Violet’ staff grants permission.
All courses require a minimum number of participants to proceed. If there are insufficient numbers, the course may be cancelled or transferred to a later date. You will be informed no later than 48 hours prior to the course commencing.
